Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes

During my initial meeting with my supervisor Erin Sterling on March 28th, 2022, we discussed what learning outcomes should be incorporated into my formal agreement. We ultimately decided on the following:

  1. To learn how the school library is managed and what the job of a teacher-librarian is.
  2. Learning the technology that schools use in relation to library cataloging, collection, and databases (including Follett/Destiny).
  3. Practicing weeding, re-shelving, and re-organizing a library collection, especially non-fiction.
  4. Providing reader’s advisory, both passive and live in a school setting.

Deliverables

As part of the DFW experience and to display learning outcomes, weekly reflections will document my work at Eckstein, as well as targeted reflections on specific learning objectives (such as on using library databases). Photographs will also be part of this documentation work, as well as booklists for both recommended reads and weeded books, new signage for some library sections, recorded book talks, and printable and distributable bookmarks for middle school readers.
