Weekly Reflection 3
This week (April 11-15th) Eckstein was closed for spring break, so I did not go in to the library. Instead, I started work on the bookmarks and other reader’s advisory tools, familiarized myself with some of the books that are in the Eckstein library, and added a few books to a potential purchase list that seemed to fill holes in the collection or that are excellent books that would help round out existing areas. (These books included How We Got to the Moon by John Rocco, a runner-up for several awards including the Sibert and YALSA Non-Fiction awards, and A Different Mirror for Young People by Rebecca Stefoff, which may help round out the freshly weeded non-fiction section).
Overall, since I was mostly doing research and creating notes for myself on which books should go onto the bookmarks – fantasy, science fiction, and LGBTQ+ reads – I did not produce much visible content this week. I did, however, create an initial draft of the bookmark template that I will be using.
There are significant issues with it – including being too small for what I ultimately ended up wanting, and the text having some blurriness due to size – but I have a place to begin working from once I have time for remote hours to get back to this project.
